A derogation allows category B licence holders to drive alternatively-fuelled goods vehicles above 3,500 kg up to 4,250 kg where the extra weight comes from the powertrain. Conditions apply and the rules have been reviewed, so check the current position for each driver before you order.
Does the battery ruin the payload?
On a 3.5 tonne electric van, it takes a real bite. The 4.25 tonne plating exists precisely to give it back, which is why heavier plating is usually the right answer for an electric large van. We will do the payload maths with you before you commit.
How long does charging take?
It depends entirely on the charger and the state of charge, and the honest planning answer is that a depot charger overnight is what makes an electric large van work. If your operation cannot charge overnight, an electric large van is probably the wrong tool.
